Hello there, I’m Lori Ann!

Welcome to my own little world where I’d love to show you just how easy it is to create your own meals and grow your own food. I believe that we all have the ability in us as long as we’re given the tools!

The recipes shared on this food blog are all tasty (I’ve cooked and eaten them all!). I’m also lucky to have great friends and family that are always willing to be my taste testers. I have my own raised-bed garden in the backyard of my home in Long Island, NY. So, any of the garden tips I share with you are things I’ve picked up along the way!

For the past 2 years, I’ve embarked on a keto lifestyle journey. What originally started as a quick way to lose weight, turned into a deeper understanding of how the food we eat effects us. Ultimately, keto ended up drumming up new appreciation for organic foods which lead me to start my own vegetable garden. Before I knew it, I was producing a lot of the vegetables I was eating!

Embarking on my keto and gardening journey brought out my creative side. It pushed me to craft new recipes that used more fresh produce and whole foods instead of relying on processed ones. As such, I have dedicated much of this site to keto friendly recipes which you can find in the recipe index!

My Mission

Homecook Gardener is all about proving that anyone can be a rockin’ homecook! My mission is to create easy to follow recipes that not only taste good, but also make you feel good. One of the best feelings in the world is serving up a home cooked meal for loved ones. With this site I hope to inspire more and more people to do just that!

It’s also good to keep in mind what we’re putting in our bodies and where it all comes from. I truly feel that everyone should grow at least one thing in their life. Even if it’s just to gain a better hands-on understanding of all that goes into producing everything we eat. I completely understand that the process of gardening can feel overwhelming. Even I used to feel like I had a “black thumb” due to all the confusing information out there. With this blog, I’d like to simplify the art of growing and make it more approachable.

Ultimate Goal

Whether you visited this blog for recipes, cooking tips, gardening advice, or all three, my one wish is that you come away having picked up something new to add to your repertoire!
